Organizational Employment Program is designed to:

Processing notched stringers in Lakestate's Wood Shop

Purpose: The purpose of the Organizational Employment Program is to provide persons with barriers to employment an opportunity to participate in work training and job placement.

Organizational Employment Services gives an individual

an opportunity to become more productive and self sufficient by

expanding their work experiences and by helping them

understand the values and rewards of work.

Work Training  helps to develop employable work skills. The focus is on work performance and the "soft skills" of employment. Work performance includes an individual's ability to learn, quality of work, initiative, and work stamina. "Soft skills" include an individual's attendance, dependability, motivation, attitude, and other acceptable work behaviors.

Sample Work Opportunity: fan assembly

Work Opportunities  are provided based on an individual's interests, motivation, and abilities. A variety of different work experiences are offered, including, but not limited to, packaging, sorting recyclables at the DSWMA, confidential shredding, assembly, bulk mailing, janitorial, pallet stock, manufacturing, and handcrafted wood products.

Evaluation:  An assessment of an individual's job

related skills and their ability to work.

Referral Process:  Lakestate Industries receives referrals from Pathways, MDCD/Michigan Rehabilitation Services, Delta-Schoolcraft ISD, MI WORKS!, Michigan Commission for the Blind, and by private parties, agencies, or programs which aid persons who are in need of a work evaluation, work training, work experience, or job placement.
